Barbara C. Jones, age 94, a lifelong resident of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham.
She was the beloved wife of the late Victor L. Jones to whom she was wed for nearly 59 years at the time of his death on July 5, 2000.
Born in Waterville, Maine on October 25, 1921, she was loving daughter of the late Vance and Gladys (Hodges) Carver.
A 1939 graduate of Mansfield High School, Mrs. Jones had been employed as a solderer for 32 years at the Foxboro Co. She retired in 1983 and was a member of the Foxboro Co. 25 Year Club.
Barbara was a former volunteer at KinderCare in Mansfield for over 12 years. She was a member of the Mansfield Congregational Church, the Mansfield Grange and the Foxboro Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Jone’s family was the focal point of her life. She especially treasured the times spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was affectionately known by her family as “Gram”.
She is survived by her devoted children Roberta L. Sylva and her husband John of Mansfield and Jason C. Jones, Sr. and his longtime companion Ann Barry of Taunton She was the cherished grandmother of Sean Sylva, Jason Jones, Jr., Robyn Bramanti, Rachael Jones-Flatt and Patrick Sylva. She was the adoring great grandmother of Jeffrey, Julia, Nathan, Sophia, Madison, Sarah and Luke, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, November 21st at 10:00 at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours Friday, November 20th from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 473 South St. W, #13, Raynham, MA 02767.
