David O'Connor Von Euw
11/12/2015

Von Euw, David O’Connor, on November 12, entered the fullness of God’s love. David, a lifelong Bostonian, leaves us after 83 years of finding perfect parking spaces, dominating every game from Risk to golf to chess, reciting poetry, charming nurses to neighbors, cursing then celebrating the Red Sox, railing against unnecessary stop signs, loving God, waging peace, explaining the world, and thinking deeply about everything. David attended Mission High and Boston College, he worked in the automotive industry, and at four years old, he moved into the house he’d remain in the for the next 79 years. He co-wrote a guide to marriage preparation and counseled many couples along with his wife of 43 years. His associations were numerous and meaningful, including Peace Corps volunteer in Santiago, Chile; volunteer and parishioner at St. Ignatius of Newton, Holy Name of West Roxbury, and the Franciscan Friary of Brookline; Captain in the National Guard for 17 years; and a founding member of the Parkway Croquet League. His wife, Mary Lou Callahan Von Euw (of West Roxbury), his daughter, Michelle Von Euw and his son-in-law, Joe Rodano (of Silver Spring, Md), his son, David Von Euw and his daughter-in-law, Meaghan Carr (of Framingham), will miss him terribly. He’ll also be missed by his grandsons, Joseph David Von Euw Rodano and Ryan Matthew Von Euw Rodano, who call him “EO,” as well as his sisters Eleanor DePasquale and Mary Colarusso, brother Fr. Vincent Von Euw, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, godchildren, family, and friends. He knew so much, he loved so much, he lived so much.
