Joan C. (Karagis) Vlangas, 78, of Manchester, passed away November 5, 2015 with her family by her side. She laid peacefully as she took her last breath and her spirit left her weak body. You will always be our sunshine.
She was born in Manchester on June 7, 1937 and was the daughter of Charles Karagis. She graduated from Central High School in 1955 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Joan worked as a secretary at Hillside Junior High School and Manchester Water Works for many years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Vlangas in 1986 and by a sister, Irene “B.I.” Kilmer.
The family includes three children, Victoria L. Dewey, James Vlangas and his wife, Connie, and Christopher Vlangas and his wife, Elizabeth; three grandchildren, Matthew, Ashlee and Amanda; a sister, Beverly Spiro; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St., Manchester. Fr. Michael Wilson officiated. Committal prayers followed at Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Road, Manchester.
