Obituary

Boylston: Rose (Marino) Zammitti, 88, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, surrounded by her 3 children and daughter in law Carey. She leaves 2 sons- Richard and his wife Carey Zammitti of Boylston, and Robert and his wife Gerri of Plymouth; a daughter- Maria Zammitti of Grafton; 7 grandchildren- Michael, Christopher and Jeffrey Zammitti, Kayla and Kyle Naughton, Amanda and Abby Zammitti; a nephew and his wife- Giorgio and Irene Marino; and a sister-in-law Eugenia Marino, all in Marsala, Sicily. She was predeceased by her husband Conrad Zammitti who passed away June 22nd 1990, and 2 brothers- Guiseppe and Giovanni Marino.

Rose was born in Benghazi, Libya (a province of Italy pre WW2), daughter of the late Giorgio and Grazia (Genovesi) Marino. Rose spent much of her young adult life in Noto, Sicily. She immigrated to America on January 25th, 1959 after marrying her husband Conrad in Rome. She was a housewife and loving mother to her family and was a member of the Boylston Senior Citizens Society.

Rose loved her Italian heritage and her family, especially her grandchildren of whom she was so proud. All that mattered in her life was to be surrounded by the ones she loved. Rose enjoyed the beach, listening to Italian music, dancing, and the quiet community of her family.

Her quiet, heart-felt presence; her stories of life in Sicily and Benghazi before, during and after WW2; the sound of her Italian accent, and the smell of her cooking will be greatly missed and long remembered.

Lastly, she so loved those in the Boylston Senior Citizens Society. They filled a very important role in her life and she looked forward to meeting with them each week.
