Obituary

WEST BOYLSTON-Sheila F. (Hartnett) Johnson, 74, of West Boylston, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at UMASS Medical Center. Her husband of 47 years, Robert B. “BJ” Johnson predeceased her on August 16, 2011. She leaves three sons, David R. Johnson and his wife Melissa of Paxton, Robert T. Johnson and his wife Shannon of Holden and Thomas M. Johnson of Boston; a sister, Mary Whittles of West Boylston; five grandchildren that she adored with all her heart, David, Lillian, Emerson, Allison and Kaitlyn; and many nephews and nieces. Sheila was predeceased by three sisters, Ann M. Simon, Joan M. Perkins and Kathleen Hartnett.


She was born in Worcester, daughter of John J. and Mary T. (O’Malley) Hartnett and graduated from Venerini Academy and Worcester State Teachers College. Sheila taught in the Worcester Public School system for many years retiring from Tatnuck Magnet School. She was a member of the Educational Association of Worcester, Mass Teachers Association, NEA and the Dinettes Club. Sheila enjoyed spending winters at her condo in Boynton Beach, FL and also enjoyed York Beach, ME.


A Funeral will be held on Friday, October 30 from CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 am in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday, October 29 from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
