Betty Whiteside Shelton, age 88, died Monday, October 19, 2015 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN. She was born June 27, 1927 in Phoenix, AZ to the late Roy and Lela Blaker Whiteside. Betty was a retired secretary for AT&T and an active member of First Baptist Church of Holly Springs, MS where she served as a greeter each Sunday morning. She loved cooking for her family and friends, gardening and sewing. Betty adored her family and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will begin immediately following the visitation, at 2:00 pm in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery with Joey Shaw, Kevin Whiteside, Mitchell Whiteside, Chris Shelton, Shawn Shelton, and Blain Shelton serving as pallbearers. Betty is survived by her sons, Dennis Michael Shelton of Byhalia, MS, and Ernest Glenn Shelton of South Daytona, FL; two sisters, Pearl (Troy) Keel of Coldwater, MS and Mary Jane Shaw of Coffeeville, MS; one brother, Larry (Peggy) Whiteside of Water Valley, MS; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest F. Shelton. | ||||
