Obituary

Georgette Y. Savaria, 108, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2015 in the Beaumont Nursing Center. She leaves a niece Terri Craftchick of Ocala, Florida. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gaspard M. Savaria and Henry F. Savaria, two sisters, Jeanne Savaria and Madeline Guertin, a nephew, Julian Hamel, a niece Patricia Davis and a great-nephew Craig Joubert.
Georgette was born in Woonsocket, RI, daughter of Josephine (Rouleau) and Henry A. Savaria and moved to Worcester many years ago. She was a graduate of South High School and Clark University. She was employed at the Worcester Public Library for 15 years. During that time, she was granted a fellowship to study and teach English at a college in Angouleme, France. She was an accomplished violinist and had been a member of the Worcester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Worcester Symphony, and several chamber music groups. She also performed in several resort hotels in New England and as a soloist for many area churches. Miss Savaria taught violin and piano and was a tutor in French.
Following cremation, burial will be private in the family plot in Rural Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. assisted the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Clark University or a charity of the donor's choice.
