Marie "Betty" Riley Morse, 89, of Naples, Florida and Fairhaven, Massachusetts, passed away on October 4, 2015.
Born in New Bedford on June 22, 1926, she was the beloved daughter of Lloyd and Elizabeth (Feeley) Mader. She attended New Bedford High School and graduated from Chandler School of Retail in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to moving to Naples, Betty had lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth,Massachusetts. She enjoyed spending her summers at the beach in Fairhaven. She was an avid golfer and was a lifelong member of the Country Club of New Bedford.
Betty leaves behind her husband Charles W. Morse, her three children, Donna E. Riley (George Kelly) of Suffield, Connecticut, Ronald F. Riley (Claire) of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and G. Steven Riley (Audrey) of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, eleven grandchildren who will miss their “Grandma” and ten great grandchildren who will dearly miss their “GiGi”.
In addition, she leaves her stepdaughters, Mary Ellen Attennsio, Suzanne Buhrow (Jack), Elizabeth Reid and Jane Ryan (John), nine step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Dr. George F. Riley and her daughter Lynn A. Stanton.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday October 13, 2015 at 9:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church, North Dartmouth at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-7 PM.
