Nancy Louise (Anderson) Harris ,82, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015, peacefully and surrounded by her family in her home.
Her husband of 57 years, Robert W. ’Bob’ Harris died September 4, 2011.
She leaves behind one son, Robert T. Harris and his wife Ruth of Webster, one daughter, Donna Jo Harris of Barnstable, 2 grandsons, Robert C. Harris and his wife Erin of CA., and David R. Harris and his wife Kelly of Minnesota, and a great grandson, William R. Harris and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was born in Worcester, the daughter of Olaf and Ellen (Tuominen) Anderson and lived in Webster and Marco Island for many years. She was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester and then went on to be a director of women’s programming in radio for WKOX in Framingham, from there she became a television producer for 2 New York advertising firms, and had previously owned and managed retail stores in Worcester and Dudley.
She became a involved for the ‘Reagan for President ‘campaign in 1978 and volunteered full time in their Boston office commuting 7 days a week. After the campaign she was offered a Presidential appointment in Washington , and was named director of intergovernmental affairs at the Department of Education. Mainly she was a liaison for the secretary William Bennett to all of the elected officials, from governors on down, she then moved on as the regional administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration for Region 1 in Boston.
Nancy was quoted as saying these were “Nine Exciting Years” in the Reagan Administration.
On a personal level, Nancy and Bob enjoyed their home on Marco Island for over 25 years, returning back to their Webster Lake home in the summers.
Nancy’s Funeral Services will be Private.
Burial next to her husband Bob will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Webster.
