Obituary

Edward D. Allen, 75, of Worcester passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Joyce-Ann (Aubin) Allen, his daughter Kristen L. Belbin and her husband Kevin from Missouri City, Texas, his two sons Brian E. Allen and his wife Karen of Holden, and Kevin D. Allen and his wife Kerri of Wilmington, MA. He was the proud Pop-Pop to Sarah and Jacob Belbin, Zachary, Ainsley, and Andrew Allen, and Avery and Brady Allen. He also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was born on May 31, 1940 in Worcester the youngest of ten children of Thomas P. and Doris (Cormier) Allen. He was predeceased by five sisters and four brothers and one grandchild, Kevin T. Belbin, Jr.
He lived most of his life in Worcester; graduating from Worcester Boy’s Trade as a machinist in 1958. He worked for Norton Company / St. Gobain in Worcester and Northborough for 36 years, retiring in 2000. He proudly served his country with six years in the United States Army and twenty-seven years in the United States Coast Guard Reserves, retiring as a Chief Machinery Technician in 2000.
He spent many years coaching Little League, Babe Ruth, and softball for the Lou Gehrig League in Worcester. In recent years, he spent most of his time enjoying baseball, football, soccer, basketball, karate, dance, and theatre activities of his grandchildren, attending as many events as possible.
The family is extremely grateful for the kindness and support from the Medical Oncology staff at UMass Memorial Medical Center and the Jewish Healthcare Center rehabilitation and hospice staff.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 4-7pm. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester on Monday, Sept. 14 at 11am. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jewish Healthcare Hospice, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
