Obituary

SPENCER: Clifford E. "Zeke" Stanikmas 81,of East Charlton Rd., died Wednesday, Sept. 9 at his home following a brief illness.
His wife of 53 years, Evelyn M. (Robichaud) Stanikmas died Nov. 14, 2014. He leaves his sons Kevin M. Stanikmas and his wife Wendy of Oakham, and Brian D. Stanikmas of Spencer, his daughter Andrea L. Burke and her husband Chris of Spencer, two sisters Phyllis Slattery and Elizabeth Lemerise both of Charlton, six grandchildren; Hali, Briana, Justin & Olivia Stanikmas, Sean & Paige Burke, a great granddaughter; Averee Mesick, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers William & Joseph Stanikmas and sisters Joyce Dowd and Mary Ellen Stanikmas.
Zeke was a wire drawer at Concord Wire in Worcester for many years, prior to retirement. He previously worked as a salesman for Nutmeg Toy House of Mystic, Ct. for 25 years and Rosley's Dairy in Leicester.
He was born in Leicester, the son of Anthony and Mary (Hollings) Stanikmas and later graduated from Leicester High School. Zeke attended the former Leicester Junior College. He served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was a longtime member of the Cherry Valley American Legion Post 443 and was manager of the Boy's Baseball Team for many years.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME. 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will be private and at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Friday, Sept. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Cherry Valley American Legion Scholarship Fund, 167 Main St., Cherry Valley, Ma. 01611 or Mary, Queen of the Rosary Food Pantry, 60 Maple St., Spencer, Ma 01562.
