Grovetown, GA – Mr. John L. Steed, III, beloved son of Virginia H. Brown and the late Mr. and Mrs. John L. Steed, Jr., entered into rest on Tuesday, September 01, 2015 at his family home in Grovetown, GA after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Bellevue Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Pittman officiating. Interment to follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
John was a dairy farmer in Grovetown and worked on the family farm most of his life. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and was an avid Texas Longhorn fan.
John is survived by his mother, Virginia H. Brown of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Jim Steed (Elaine) and Pearre Morgan (Alana) of Grovetown; four sisters, Diane Moore (Henry) of Willacoochee, GA, Lynne Byrne (Bob) of Seminole, FL, Julie Thigpen (Gary) of Martinez, GA, and Libby Carswell (Joe) of Evans, GA; fourteen nieces and nephews; and eight great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Steed.
John was lovingly cared for the last two years of his illness by his brother Jim and his sister-in-law, Elaine.
Pallbearers will be Joe Burns, Cole Steed, Todd Greene, Matt Carswell, Clay Carswell, and Benjamin Thigpen. Honorary pallbearers will be Russ Agner, Ricky Mays, Mike Salazar, Ed Jacobs, Steve Atkins, Carlton Hodges, and Joey Burns.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, September 2, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
