Obituary



Augusta – Ms. Kalyssa Raeanna Mariah Fuentes, 20, daughter of Rhoda and Anthony Restivo, entered into rest on Thursday, August 27, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Bishop Richard Peoples officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Kalyssa was born in Trinidad & Tobago on June 7, 1995. At 7 months old, she migrated to the US with her mother in 1996. There she resided for a time with her Uncle Nigel and family in Florida before moving to Georgia. She lived in Columbia County for a short time until her gift for the arts would cause her to relocate to Richmond County. She attended Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School and in 2013, she graduated with several honors including: National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, FLAIR Honor Society for Foreign Language, and a Hope Scholar. Kalyssa continued on to Georgia State University where she was awarded the Georgia State University Centennial Merit Award, GSU Excellence Scholarship, she was also part of the Honors College at GSU and was on the College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s List in Spring and Fall of 2014. In May 2015, Kalyssa was chosen as one of 35 new Bachelor of Fine Arts graphic design majors in the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design at GSU. From May 2011, during the summer and winter breaks Kalyssa worked as a clerical assistant at Georgia Bank & Trust in deposit operations and most recently in marketing. From August to December 2014, she volunteered as a graphic & media intern for the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation. From December 2014 to March 2015, she volunteered as a graphic & media intern for the GSU women’s basketball team. Kalyssa was recently selected as one of two GSU representatives for ProSky as a Brand Ambassador. In August 2015, Kalyssa received and accepted an offer of employment at the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority as a marketing & communications intern to commence on September 1, 2015. In addition to her parents, Rhoda and Anthony, she leaves behind her brothers; Anthony Jr., and Dominic, her sisters; Madelyn, Adrianna and Gabrielle Restivo, as well as her grandparents; Esther Thompson and Edmond and Cherie Restivo.

Pallbearers will be Nigel Hoyte, Edmond Restivo Sr., Edmond Restivo Jr., Jude Restivo, Rhett Restivo, & Ryan Hendry.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, August 31, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
