Obituary

LEICESTER: Joseph A. Cote, Sr., 90 beloved husband, father and cherished friend passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, Aug. 27.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Lorraine E. (Robinson) Cote, a son Joseph A. Cote, Jr. of Auburn, a daughter Maryann Cote and her husband Raymond of Leicester, a sister Sylvia Connor of Auburn, a granddaughter April Desmond and her husband Ted of Webster, a brother-in-law Donal Robinson of Worcester and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother Robert Cote and a sister Jeanne Chouinard.
Mr. Cote was born in Holyoke, son of Telesphore and Yvonne (Boulanger) Cote. He worked in the collections department at Commonwealth Gas Co. for 30 years before retiring. He served his country in the United States Navy during WW II where he was assigned to amphibious operations. He served in the Normandy Invasion and in Southern France. He was an avid fly fisherman and fly tyer, he especially loved salmon fishing. He was a founding member of the New England Fly Tyers and the Rhoddy Fly Rodders. He owned and operated Cote's Fly Shop in Leicester for 47 years. He enjoyed teaching others the sport he was so passionate about. "TIGHT LINES JOE".
The funeral will be held Sunday, Aug. 30 at 4:00 PM in MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will precede the service from 2:00-4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to; Project Healing Waters, P.O. Box 695, La Plata, MD 20646.
