Lucile Coleman, age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 22, 2015 at her home in Los Angeles, CA. Born August 10, 1923 in Yalobusha County, MS, Lucile was the daughter of the late Vollie P. and Mary Udera Gholson Coleman. Lucile was retired from the Geological Survey where she had worked first in Knoxville, TN and later transferred to Grand Junction, CO, then Denver, CO, San Francisco, CA and finally to Menlo Park, CA. Lucile was a world traveler having been practically around the world on many trips. Lucile loved to attend the theater. She ushered for many years at the Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, CA. Lucile loved to knit, and excelled in knitting fishermen sweaters. She made many sweaters for friends and her sisters, as well as many lovely afghans.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 28, 2015 in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Water Valley, MS. Seven Oaks Funeral Home of Water Valley is in charge of arrangements.

Lucile is survived by a sister, Helen Coleman of Los Angeles, CA, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Anice Coleman, Fern Lee Coleman and Frances Corinne Coleman; and six brothers, Edward Coleman, Wilson Coleman, Leslie Coleman, Jack Coleman, Sam Coleman and Howard Coleman.
