Obituary





Worcester – George Soter, 76, of Worcester, died on Tuesday, August 25th in the Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his wife and children at his side, after a brief illness.

George was married for 52 years to Carol S. (Haddad) Soter. He is also survived by his five sons, Keith G. and his wife Roseann of Worcester, Mark G. and his wife Stacey of Sutton, Paul N. and his wife Kiki of Worcester, Matthew R. and his wife Kate of Spencer and Michael J. and his wife Casie of Bellingham; a brother, Arthur K. and his wife Helen of Monroe, CT; 10 grandchildren, Courtney, Christopher, Arianna, Eric, Kylie, Nicholas, Christina, Lindsey, Emily and Alexanna; a great grandson, Bradley and many nephews and nieces.

Mr. Soter was born in Worcester, son of the late, Koli and Celia (Rucho) Soter and was also predeceased by a son, Gary M. Soter who died in 1984; a brother, S. Nicholas Soter and two sisters, Angelina Zonia and Genevieve Apostola.

George was a graduate of Worcester Junior College and the former Commerce High School. He enlisted in the Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1964. Mr. Soter worked for Pezrow Entreprises as a Vice President for 26 years and then worked for the former Bancroft Motors.

He was a lifelong member and supporter of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and served on the church board in many capacities. He enjoyed spending time at both Cape Cod and Old Orchard Beach. George was the happiest when he was spending time with his loving family.

The funeral will be held on Friday, August 28th at 10 AM in Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church 34 Gold St. Shrewsbury with a visitation period starting at 9 AM before the funeral service in the church. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 27th from 5 to 8 PM in Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church Building Fund 34 Gold Street Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
