Obituary

LEICESTER: Joseph G. Favreau, 89, of Mayflower Circle died Sunday, Aug. 23 in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness.
His wife of 45 years Claire (Perra) Favreau died in 1995. He leaves a son Stephen P. Favreau and his partner Lynn Magill with whom he lived, a brother Armand Favreau and his wife Anne, two sisters Rita Boulanger and Cecile Misiuk all of Auburn and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Favreau was born in Worcester, son of Francis and Rose (Charbonneau) Favreau. He was a machinist for many years first at George C. Meyers, Co followed by Astra Pharmaceutical Co. before retiring in 1993. He served his country during WW II in the United States Navy. He graduated from South High School in Worcester. He lived in Oxford for many years and was a member and CCD teacher at St. Roch's Church. He moved to Leicester in 1969 and was a member of St. Pius X Church and served as a Eucharistic minister there. He and his wife enjoyed traveling. He was an avid tennis player and was a member of the silver sneaker tennis team. He enjoyed stone masonry a skill he learned from his grandfather.
The Funeral will be held Wednesday, Aug. 26 from MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum in Worcester. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 9:30-10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Leicester Food Pantry, 759 Main Street, Leicester, MA 01524.
