Obituary

LEICESTER: John J. O'Neill, Sr., 89, of Mayflower Road died Friday, Aug. 21 in his home after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Joan (Hayes) O'Neill, a son John J. O'Neill, Jr. of Washington, D.C., two daughters; Sheila M. Champagne and her husband Robert of Leicester and Sharon M. O'Neill of Leicester, six grandchildren; Emily Beaudry and her husband Mark, Matthew Champagne and his wife Kristie, Joanna Champagne, Yvette O'Neill, Nasir O'Neil and Emerlinda Morales O'Neill, four great-grandchildren; Camden & Nolan Beaudry, Kinsley Champagne and Genevieve O'Neill White. He was pre-deceased by four brothers and three sisters.
Mr. O'Neill was born in Worcester, son of Henry B. and Mary (Coyle) O'Neill. He was an accountant for many years at Worcester County National Bank before retiring in 1990. He served his country in the European Theatre during WW II in the United States Army. He graduated from South High School in Worcester. He was an avid reader and history buff. He had a keen sense of humor, a sharp wit and an arsenal of corny jokes that entertained both family and friends..
Funeral Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Veterans, Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605. MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester is directing arrangements.
