Woodrow Bell, Jr. Obituary - Water Valley MS

Woodrow Bell, Jr., age 75, died Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at his home in Water Valley, MS. He was born December 11, 1939 in Coffeeville, MS to the late Woodrow, Sr. and Elizabeth Harris Bell. Woodrow was an active member and Leading Brother of the Martin Street Church of Christ in Water Valley, MS. He retired as a supervisor from Motts, Inc. in Water Valley where he worked for over 25 years. Known by many as the overseer of the Wash & Go Laundry Mat in Water Valley, he enjoyed talking with people about politics and about his church. His favorite thing to ask someone was, “What are the two ways to think?” Woodrow was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who dearly loved his family.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Martin Street Church of Christ in Water Valley MS with Rev. Dexter Ross officiating. Burial will be in the Church of Christ Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Jermaine Gooch, Vaughn Morgan, Chris Harris, Clarence Morgan, George Isom, Ed Gray, Walter Williams, Ken Folson and Shedkeyrick Ross serving as pallbearers.

Woodrow is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Burgess Bell of Water Valley, MS; his daughter, Cindy Sims of Water Valley, MS; his son, Tracy Bell (Tensie) of Columbia, SC; his sisters, Annie Harvey and Dorothy Mabe (Lou) all of Chicago, IL and Betty Caldwell of Gary, IN; his brothers, Roosevelt Bell (Lottie) of Southaven, MS, Jimmy Bell (Helen) of Detroit, MI, Foster Bell (Peaches) of Gary, IN, and Russell Bell of Detroit, MI; four grandchildren, Desree Bland of Water Valley, MS, Brandon Sims (Devon) of Birmingham, AL, Stephanie Bell of Memphis, TN, and Jeffrey Bell (Andrea) of Houston, TX; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
