Jean M. (Robinson) McNeill, age 74, of Sharon passed away with her cherished granddaughter at her side on Friday, July 31, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Brighton.
Born in Quincy, MA on June 2, 1941, she was a loving daughter of the late James and Mildred (Shepard) Robinson. She grew up in Randolph and was a graduate of Randolph High School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. McNeill had worked for 22 years at the Sharon Credit Union. She began her banking career as a teller and retired from the customer service department. She had made her home in Sharon for the past 50 years and was a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Sharon.
With the exception of the love she had for her family, Jean’s other passion in life was horses. She was an accomplished equestrian, specializing in trail riding and generously volunteered her time to numerous horsemen association clubs.
Jean was a member of the Bristol County Horseman’s Association, the West Greenwich Horseman’s Association, the New England Horse and Trail Club and the Bay State Trail Riders Association.
Mrs. McNeill received a lifetime miles award for 3,560 miles of horseback riding, rode many horses over the 1,000 mile mark, and most recently the horse she rode “Dustie’ for 1,158 miles.
Throughout her life, Jean remained a strong willed woman who despite much sadness always got right back up on the saddle and overcame her difficulties. She also enjoyed luncheon get togethers with close friends.
She was the beloved and devoted mother of Kelly J. Bouras and her husband James of Mansfield and the late Tracey M. McNeill. She was the adoring grandmother of Ashley J. Servideo and the late Courtnie L. McNeill. She was the sister of James Robinson and the late Joan Pike. She was the former wife of Robert O’Connell and the late Ronald McNeill.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 4th at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage St., Sharon. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 3rd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
