LEICESTER: Marion A. (Wood) Lemerise 90, of Brown St. in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Thursday, July 30 in Holy Trinity Nursing Home in Worcester surrounded by her family.
She was the wife of Kenneth A. Lemerise who died in 1970. She leaves three sons Kenneth Lemerise & wife Gloria, of So.Dennis, Paul Lemerise of Geneva, Switzerland, and Richard Lemerise & wife Annette of Worcester, five daughters Karen Lemerise of No.Oxford, Dianne Lennerton & husband Donald of Leicester, Joanne Doherty & partner Mike Dombroski of Spencer; Deb Hovagimian & husband Dale of Spencer and Gail Lemerise of Leicester, a brother Paul Wood & wife Mary of Harvard,10 grandchildren; Kerry, Jenna, Andrew Lemerise, Joseph Lennerton, Rich Lemerise and Christine Crowley, Jake & Aimee Doherty, Harry & Carl Hovagimian, 7 great grandchildren; Jack, Will, Sadie, Xaver, Thea, Amelia and Harrison, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Peter W. and Hilda M. (Luukko) Wood. She was a longtime bus driver for Leicester Public Schools before retiring. Marion was affectionately known as "Ma Lemerise" and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
She was the first president of the Ladies Auxiliary at Cherry Valley Post 442-American Legion. Marion was very active in the Leicester Drum & Bugle Corps. She enjoyed playing bingo and trips to the casino. Childhood summers spent on the farm in Westboro were some of her fondest memories.
The family would like to thank Holy Trinity for their care and kindness during this difficult time as well as Kay Dubois and Karen-Kay Marois for their lifelong friendship and assistance in Marion’s final days.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 5 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m.in St. Joseph's Church, 759 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester.
