Neil David Morrison, Sr., age 72, of Mansfield passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by adoring family, on Thursday, July 30, 2015.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Morse) Morrison to whom he was wed on December 14, 1963.
Born in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada on November 17, 1942, he was a loving son of the late Neil I. and Mary (Boutlier) Morrison.
Dave spent his early childhood living in Nova Scotia. At the age of nine, his family moved to the United States where they settled in the Dorchester section of Boston. He was a 1960 graduate of Dorchester High School.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 46 years, Mr. Morrison had work for 45 years, prior to retiring, as a Parts manager at Cummins Northeast, Inc. in Dedham.
Dave was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. His affiliations included being a member and former vice president of the Foxboro Fish & Game, the Mansfield Lodge of Elks and a former member of the Mansfield Jaycees.
He loved spending time with his family; especially with his grandchildren. Dave was an avid sports fan; his favorite teams being the Patriots and Bruins.
He loved playing golf, participating as a member of several men’s area softball teams and when younger had excelled in hockey.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 52 years, he is survived by his devoted children Deborah A. Morrison and her partner Robert Barry of Mansfield, Neil David Morrison, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of North Attleboro and Traci A. Colangelo of Michigan. He was the cherished grandfather of Cristie Anna Colangelo, Neil David Morrison, III, Dominic J. Colangelo and Nicholas A. Morrison. He was the dear brother of Sheila Roche and her husband Robert of Foxboro and the late A. Shirley Conti, Marjorie Roche, Phyllis Morrison and George Brian Morrison. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, August 3rd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 2nd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers, Dave’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to Hospice, Community Visiting Nurse Agency, Inc., 10 Emory St. Attleboro, MA 02703.
