Lucy Margaret Sprouse Dunn Obituary - Water Valley MS

Lucy Sprouse Dunn, age 82, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston, MS. She was born March 25, 1933 in Yalobusha County, MS to the late John William and Missouri Gross Sprouse. Lucy was a seamstress for Big Yank for thirty years and then went to work for Borg-Warner where she retired after 17 years of service. She also owned and operated Lucy’s Hobby Shop, a craft store located between Water Valley and Bruce. Lucy was a member of the Red Hat Society and an active and faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served as choir member, music leader, and Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, quilting and sewing.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 1, 2015 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Franklin Dunn and Bro. Mickell Dunn officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Crest Cemetery in Yalobusha County, MS.

Lucy is survived by five sons, Franklin (Shirley) Dunn, Melvin (Mollie) Dunn, Gene (Loretta) Dunn, and Mickell (Karen) Dunn all of Water Valley, MS and William (Susan) Dunn of Meadville, MS; four sisters, Freddie Rutherford of Water Valley, MS, Katherine (Pete) Gates of Wetumpka, AL, Edith Hughes of Charleston, MS and Betty (Rob) Robertson of Oxford, MS; twenty grandchildren, and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Courtney Dunn; her sister, Willie Duncan; three brothers, Harold Sprouse, Robert Sprouse and Buddy Sprouse; and two grandsons, John Mickell Dunn and Jonathan Dunn.
