Raymond Francis Startz Jr, 72, of Eustis, Florida, and formerly of Groton, died on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He is survived by his wife, Lynn (Thiessen) Startz.
Raymond was born in New London on November 24, 1942, the son of Raymond F. Startz Sr. and Mary (Ashley) Startz. He worked as an officer with the Groton Town Police Department. Following that he was a truck driver for 30 years and a member of the Teamsters Local Union #251. He had a passion for shellfishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four sons; Shane, Shawn, Christopher, and Michael Startz, Two step-daughters Jessica Harpstripe and Dawnell Galindo and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Doug Startz and two sisters Sharon Burdick and Linda Jaques.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his son, John Startz and his Grandson Kyle Startz.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family at 12:30pm on Saturday, August 1 at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial is private for the family.
