Obituary

Wayne Arruda, 66, of New Bedford died July 23, 2015 at Tuft's Medical Center after a long illness.
He was the husband of Arlene M. (Ferro) Arruda.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Thelma M. (Richard) Arruda of New Bedford and the late William Arruda, Sr., he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Arruda was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
He was formerly employed by Union Street Bus Company and later Comm Electric.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Arruda was a member of the New Bedford Revolver and Rifle Club and the Fin Fur and Feather Club. He enjoyed classic cars.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Wayne Arruda, Jr. and his wife Michele of Jacksonville, FL; a daughter, Alison Gibbons and her husband James of Westwood, MA; 2 brothers, William Arruda, Jr. of Pawtucket, RI and Barry Arruda of South Dartmouth; 2 grandchildren, Harrison Graham Gibbons and Eleanor Ann Gibbons; and several aunts, nieces and nephews including his Godson Jason Arruda.
His Funeral will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 3-7 PM.
