Obituary

Virginia Helen Pease Barké, born on July 15, 1919, passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth on July 23, 2015, with family at her side, only weeks after celebrating her 96th birthday. Virginia (or Jini, Mom, Aunt Jini, Grammie and Great Grammie), was born in Amherst, Mass, the middle of seven children of Raymond and Laura Pease. She was the last surviving Pease sibling. In college at the University of Massachusetts she met Harvey E. Barké, who courted her with affection, humor and lots of flowers, especially gardenias. They were married on May 24, 1941 and were able to celebrate their 52nd wedding anniversary before he passed away in 1994. They are together again. Virginia brought five sons into the world, and gave them and their loved ones her love and care for all of her life. James, Robert (and Nancy), Chuck (and Rosemary) and Harvey, Jr. are missing her now. Second son Richard is with her, and so is her daughter-in-law Pam and her grandson Dylan. She also loved her 13 grandchildren Rachael, Allison (and Jordan), Rich (andKevin), Lauren (and Ray), Sean (and Michelle), Brian, Rob, Brendon, Kara (and Zach) and Jenna, Brittany, Gavin, Gillian. And she loved her 12greatgrandchildren - Jazz, Samantha, Raymond, Joseph, Noah, Matthew, Domenick, Abraham, Sylvie, Amelia, Quinn and Emilyn. There are also many nieces and nephews in the Pease family who loved and were loved by their Aunt Jini. We all gathered every few summers to celebrate her birthday at the cottage, most recently only two weeks ago. Son Richard and than grandson Brendon were also her caregivers for the last 15 years of her life, allowing her to stay in her home, which was her wish.Virginia loved God and loved her church and all of the friends she had there over the years. She was active throughout her life in United Methodist Women, and in the Plymouth Garden Club. Virginia was generous to many charities, especially those helping children. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice, in her memory. Go in Peace, Virginia. You are loved and will never be forgotten.
