LEICESTER: Martin S. McManus, Sr., 87 of Burncoat Lane, died Friday, July 17 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Olive J. (Cunningham) McManus, his daughter Karen A. Perrone and her husband James of Warwick, RI, his son Martin S. McManus, Jr. and his wife Susan of Palm Coast, Fl., two grandchildren; Sean McManus of Bellevue, Neb. and Erin McManus of Palm Coast, Fl. He is predeceased by a sister Lillian McManus and a very good friend Bob Comeau.
Martin was owner and operator of Smithfield Ice Cream and Dry Ice Co. in Worcester for many years, retiring in 1990.
Born in Millbury, he was the son of John and Lillian (Moberg) McManus and later graduated from Millbury High School and UMass-Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He was a member of St. Joseph/St. Pius X Parish.
The funeral will be held on Monday, July 20 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
