Maria Braga Melo 95, native of Santa Maria Azores, died July 13, 2015 in Taunton, Ma.
Calling hours will be held at the funeral home from 9-10:30 AM
A Mass will be held Friday July 17 at 11 am at St Anthony's Church and St Josephs Cemetary.
She was the daughter of Antonio and Maria Dejesus Braga, and the lifelong wife of the late Jose De Sousa Melo.
She was mother to the late Maria Braga Melo Barros and the late Denis Braga Melo.
Maria "Pedra" is survived by 3 children Jose B. Melo, Antonio B. Melo, and Almerinda Melo.
She leaves 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.
Maria Melo immigrated to Taunton Ma in 1977 with her husband. She was a loving nurturer to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She gave wholeheartedly to her family and friends, and she had a great sense of humor. She was well known for her ability to cook and bake of which she did regularly for her family.
She was often seen with knitting needles in hand and made beautiful things for her family. She was a skilled farmer and green thumb and a wise woman.
To her very last days she was recognized as a sweet and dear woman by all who met her.
Maria Melo was deeply loved by many family and friends and will remain in the hearts of those whose lives she made better with her presence and inspiration.
