MANSFIELD-Ingrid M. (Parelius) Hem, 97, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015. Her husband Sidney V. Hem predeceased her. She is survived by three children, Dorothy Morse with whom she lived, David Hem and his wife Donna of Tampa, FL and Ellie Hjemmet-Murray and her husband Mike of Roane Mnt., TN; five grandchildren, Robyn, Brian, Allison, Matt and Paul; four great grandchildren, Robert, Erick, Jessica and Brian, Jr.; and three great great grandchildren, Jaydon, Amelia and Mason. Ingrid also leaves a sister Chris Anderson and sisters and family in Norway. She was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur, Rolf and Walter Parelius.
Ingrid was born in Boston, MA daughter of Norwegian immigrants Robert L. and Eva I.C. (Kristiansen) Parelius. She studied music in Europe for nearly four years, coming home due to the beginning of World War II. Ingrid was a choir director and organist throughout her life into her 90’s and recorded a CD for her family and friends at the age of 87. She loved to read her bible every day and spend time with her family and friends.
A celebration of life for Ingrid will be held at a later date. Ingrid’s family would like to thank the hospice nurses for the amazing care they provided, and they request memorial donations be made to the Community Visiting Nurses Association at 10 Emory Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
