WORCESTER-Rev. Martin W. Perry, 80, passed away on Monday, July 6th. Rev. Perry was born December 7, 1934 in Middleboro, MA the son of Joseph W. and Myrtle G. (Pratt) Perry. He graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington and Bangor Theological Seminary in Bangor, ME. He continued his theological education by attending the Pastor’s School at Furman University in Greensville, SC for over 20 years.
Rev. Perry served churches in Maine and Massachusetts. He was the pastor of Park Congregational Church in Worcester for 32 years, serving longer than any other Pastor of Park Church. After retirement, Martin continued to serve as a supply minister at several area churches. He also served as an Annuitant Visitor for the United Church of Christ by visiting retired clergy and spouses.
Rev. Perry served as President of Ministries Fellowship, Church and Nurture Committee and several other committees. Martin was a member of Solar Lodge #14 in Bath, ME, Scottish Rite and previously Aleppo Temple, Sons of the American Revolution and the Worcester Art Museum.
Martin enjoyed refinishing furniture and antiquing. He loved the theater and music of all types.
Rev. Martin W. Perry’s life was dedication to serving and helping others as a life-long ministry. His call to the church started in high school and continued as his journey of faith.
Martin leaves his brother, Thomas F. Perry; his sister, Barbara S. Alden and her husband Arthur all of Myrtle Beach, SC; his nieces, Sheryl Costa and her husband Richard, Debbie Shubert, Dacia Woessner and her husband Barry; grandnephews, Ryan Costa, Shaun Shubert and Matthew Shubert; grandniece, MacKenzie Shubert; great grandnieces, Ella Rae Costa and Lola Catherine Shubert.
A visiting period for Rev. Perry will be held on Saturday, July 11th from 9:00 to 10:00 am at CALLAHAN, FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. followed by a funeral Service at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Nemasket Hill Cemetery, Middleboro, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St., 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701.
