Nancy C. (Simmons) Caswell, age 82, of Forestport, New York, formerly of Norton passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. She was the wife of Robert H. Caswell.
Born in North Dighton, MA on July 16, 1932, she was a loving daughter of the late Albert and Priscilla (Williams) Simmons.
Nancy grew up in the Taunton area and later moved to Norton. She had made her home in Forestport for the past 27 years.
She was a retired Nurse’s Aide and had worked at Morton Hospital in Taunton, the Taunton Female Charitable Association, and at the Daggett-Crandall Newcomb Home in Norton.
Mrs. Caswell had formerly attended the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton and the Chartley United Methodist Church, also in Norton.
She loved spending time amongst her family and took great pleasure taking care of young children throughout the years. Her other interests included knitting and braiding rugs.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children Cynthia Westhall of Forestport, NY, Robin Gruenfelder and her husband Thomas of Victor, NY, Holly Teixeira and her husband Bruce of Norton, Robert Caswell, Brian Caswell and Mark Caswell all of Forestport, NY and the late Richard Caswell. She was the dear sister of Robert Simmons of South Yarmouth, Donald Simmons of Bradenton, FL and Janet Bennett of Fryeburg, ME. She is also survived by her cherished 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her graveside funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, July 17th at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Center Cemetery, Pine Street, Norton.
Visiting hours have been omitted and in lieu of flowers, her family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Lewis County Hospital Foundation, care of the Maternity Dept., 7785 North State St., Lowville, New York 13367.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St., Norton.
