Alice Doris (Smith) Greenawalt, 87, of Bolton, died on Sunday, June 28th at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester. She was the beloved wife of Austin “Snuffy” Greenwalt who died in 2008.
Alice was born at home in Lancaster, daughter of the late Charles and Alice (White) Smith. She was raised in Lancaster where she attended local schools and was a 1947 graduate of Lancaster High School. She took great pride in the care of her home and loved caring for children throughout her life. She enjoyed gardening and crafts in her spare time and truly enjoyed spending time with her pets. She was a loving mother and grandmother and adored by her great grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
Alice is survived by her children, Donald Babcock of Bolton, Linda Sutton and her husband John of Dudley, David Babcock and his wife Kathleen of Berlin; her grandchildren, Sherri-Lea Rizzelli and her significant other Daniel Cavanaugh of Leominster, Nicholas Babcock and his wife Jennifer of Leominster, Joanna Dufault and her husband Ronald of Worcester and her 8 great grandchildren.
A funeral service and celebration of Alice’s life will be held on Thursday, July 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the Tighe-¬Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com). Burial will follow in Eastwood Cemetery, Old Common Road, Lancaster. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service in the funeral home.
