Obituary

William E. "Bill" Brock Jr, 74 passed away at home on Sunday, June 28th, 2015 after a long illness, with his loving wife by his side. He leaves his devoted wife of 47 years, Helvi (Kemppi) Brock; a brother, Robert A. Brock of Gardner; and an aunt, Grace O. Hansen of Holden.

Bill was born in Worcester, son of the late William E. and Madeline B. (Flint) Brock. He graduated from Worcester North High School in 1958,Quinsigamond Community College in 1975, and Worcester State College in 1976, with a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice.

Bill joined the United States Navy in 1961. He was employed at Olson Manufacturing in Holden, before being appointed to the Massachusetts State Police in 1968. He retired in 1988. Bill was a 20 year veteran of the Massachusetts State Police, serving at barracks throughout western Massachusetts, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. Bill received a Special Commendation for his work in solving a murder/kidnapping investigation in central Massachusetts. Bill was a well known and respected Trooper, as well as a trusted mentor and friend to many young State Police officers. Affectionately known as “The Gator”, he will be remembered as the type of man you would want standing beside you in a time of trouble. He will be greatly missed by all who would go to him for advice. Bill was also a big New England sports fan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston.
