Obituary

WORCESTER-Mary E. (Robinson) O’Shea, 81, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, surrounded by her loving family at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence.

She leaves her devoted husband of 55 years, Stephen A. O’Shea; her son, Stephen T. O’Shea and his wife, Linda of Auburn; five daughters, Maureen and her husband, David Silenzi of Northboro, Christine O’Shea of Worcester, Karen and her husband, Stephen Corso of Worcester, Eileen DeMartino of N. Oxford and Kathleen and her husband, Kurt Rabbett of Worcester; her sister, Sr. Maureen Robinson O.P. (Aunt Phil) of Nanuet, NY; ten grandchildren, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Shaughn, Sarah, Brianna, Stephen, Keelia, Daniel, Molly and Megan; her great granddaughter, Shea; brother-in-law, Fr. James B. O’Shea of Worcester; sister-in-law, Anne O’Shea of Monson; her niece, Bridget and her husband, Charles Bates and their son, Liam of Chicopee; her extended family, the Friedrich’s of Clinton including her goddaughter, Mary Kate Friedrich; Tracey LeBlanc of Shrewsbury; as well as numerous other friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Anne-Marie O’Shea; parents, Thomas and Sarah (Ferris) Robinson and brother-in-law, Francis J. O’Shea.

Mary was born in the Bronx, New York, graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan and afterwards worked for the telephone companies in both New York and Worcester. For many years prior to retirement in 2002, she was an administrative assistant at the Department of Employment and Training.

She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Church and its Women’s Guild. She also was a long-time volunteer at the parish thrift shop as well as the Holy Name CCHS bingo. She also was known for supporting numerous charities. She loved her Catholic faith, her Irish heritage, playing bingo, visiting Hampton Beach and taking trips to Atlantic City. Most of all, Mary’s top priority was caring for her family as well as making herself available to help others in any way she could. Her smile was infectious and she was truly an inspiration to all of those who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Mary’s funeral will be held on Saturday, June 27th from CALLAHAN FAY CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with of Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by her brother-in-law Rev. James B. O’Shea at 10:00 am at St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton St. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 26th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Church Restoration Fund, 16 Hamilton St., Worcester, MA 01604 or to VNA Care Network and Hospice or the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
