Mary Alice Moorman Obituary - Water Valley MS

Mary Alice Moorman, age 89, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born December 11, 1925 in to the late Albert T. and Ruth Wilbourn Moorman in Oakville, TN. Mary Alice served Yalobusha County for over 42 years, first as a teacher at Jeff Davis School in Water Valley. She served in Coffeeville as a teacher and girls basketball coach, later as assistant principal, and finally as the Superintendent of Education. Mary Alice served as a Trustee for Northwest Community College, was an active member of the Cattleman’s Association, the Yalobusha County Forestry Association, and was an avid supporter of Pine Valley Fire Department. She loved the Lord and was a faithful and active member, in all aspects of service at Bethel Baptist Church in Water Valley.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS with Bro. Freddie Moorman and James Robert Haynes officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery with Garrett Bynum, Luke Bynum, Jason Haynes, Alex Hirschfield, John Michael Hood, Michael Magee, Will Magee, Cody Person, Dustin Person, Trey Pipkin, Walker Robison, Walt Robison and Michael Ruiz serving as pallbearers. James Robert Haynes, Jeff Magee, Lee Robison, Jeff Bynum and Timothy Logan will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mary Alice is survived by her sister, Ann M. Haynes of Batesville, MS; five nieces and nephews; seven great nephews; one great-great nephew; a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Tommie Juanita Simpson; and two brothers, Fred Earl Moorman and Thomas A. Moorman.
