Edwina (Ferreira) Souza, 95, of New Bedford died Tuesday May 26, 2015 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility. She was the wife of the late William G. Souza.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Incarnation (Medeiros) Ferreira, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mrs. Souza was formerly employed as a seamstress at Cherry & Webb.
She was a member of the Secular Order of Franciscans.
Survivors include two sons, William G. Souza, Jr. and his wife Gail of Windham, NH, and Rev. Brian J. Souza and his wife Tammy of New Bedford; a sister, Pearl Thosz of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Rebekah Scanlon, Dylan Fredette, and Madison Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hailey, Alexis, and Tristan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Alice Martel, Eria Medeiros, Delores Girouard, Edelena Dochek, Manuel Ferreira, and Abilio "Billy" Ferreira.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM.
