Meghan A. Sargent, 18, of Fairhaven died Monday May 25, 2015.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Norman C. and Jeana M. (Rodriques) Sargent of Fairhaven, she lived in Fairhaven all of her life. Meghan was a graduate of Fairhaven High School, class of 2015, where she was an honors student and had taken many Advanced placement classes. She was to attend UMass-Dartmouth in the fall with the desire to study psychiatry. She was also a member and band leader of the school's Marching Band and belonged to various school clubs.
Meghan worked at Ma Raffa's in New Bedford, and had also been a volunteer at the New Bedford YMCA Summer Child Care program. In her youth, she participated in the Southcoast Girl's Softball league. She also enjoyed bowling at the Wonderbowl.
Survivors include her parents; a brother, Michael Sargent of Fairhaven; her grandparents, A. Gary and Christine Rodriques of Fairhaven; her great-grandparents, Joan C. Dion of New Bedford and Joaquim "Jack" Rodriques and his wife Arlene of New Bedford; 6 aunts, Janet Smith, Shawna Smith, Diane Braley, Diane Eccleston, Jane DeRego and Peggy DeTerra; 4 uncles, John Rodriques, William Sargent, Ralph Sargent and James Sargent; her Godparents, Annette Landreville and Franklin Eccleston; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
She was the granddaughter of the late William and Barbara (Allen) Sargent, and great-granddaughter of the late Jean Z. Dion and the late Doris Rodriques.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 2nd at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Friends are invited to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday, June 1st from 5-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
