Bobby Carr Johnsey, Sr. age 85, died Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the MS State Veterans Home in Oxford, MS. He was born April 26, 1930 in Water Valley, MS to the late Robert and Lottie Hyde Johnsey. Bobby attended Bethel Baptist Church, was a 32 degree Mason, and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a quiet, hard working man who enjoyed repairing things, and was able to fix most anything. He worked for several years for his Aunt Dixie at Hendrick’s Machine Shop in Water Valley, then later worked for over twenty years at Holley Carburetor (Borg-Warner) before retiring as a mechanic. In his younger days, Bobby enjoyed playing the steel guitar, gardening, hunting, and he was an avid CB Radio Operator - his CB “handle” was Robin Hood. In the last two years at the VA, Bobby made many friends and was affectionately known as, “Day Room Monitor”.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 28, 2015 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks, with Bro. Billy Childs officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery with Jay Tucker, Micheal Womble, Harry Womble, Shawn Davis, Lewis Walters and Ned Walters serving as pallbearers. Wilbur Herring, Bobby Gene Walters, Tim Walters and Leighton Harrington will serve as honorary pallbearers. Bobby is survived by his daughter, Emily Johnsey Childs and her husband, Billy of Water Valley, MS; two granddaughters, Allison Childs Hernandez and her fiance Leighton Harrington of Hernando, MS, and Catie Childs Tucker and her husband, Jay of Water Valley, MS; three great-grandchildren, Jayden Hernandez, Bentlee Tucker and Aubree Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lois Johnsey; and two sons, Benjamin Johnsey and Bobby Carr Johnsey, Jr. The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
