Joanne Short Kelly, age 82, died Friday, May 22, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born August 10, 1932 in Hornbeak, TN to the late Paul and Bernice Cunningham Short. Joanne retired after 30 years of service, from the Memphis City Schools where she taught high school math. After moving to Water Valley, she taught high school algebra in Grenada for ten years. Joanne loved Elvis and enjoyed her chickens, farming, duck hunting and fishing.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 am in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks, with Bro. Bennie Turnage officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley. Joanne is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Boluda and her husband, Jose of Bowie, MD; her son, Steven W. Kelly and his wife, Supatra of Yorktown, VA; her sister, Linda Henson of Water Valley, MS; and three grandchildren, Jessica Boluda, Christine Boluda and John Kelly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Racel Lee Kelly; and two brothers, Olen Short and Jack Short.
