Obituary

Augusta, GA – Mr. Henry E. (Hank) Baud, Jr., Ed. D., Passed away at home on May 3, 2015.
He was born January 11, 1945 in Harvey, IL. His parents were Margaret Poort Baud and Henry E. Baud, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Dick Baud and Andy Baud. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Douglas Baud, beloved daughter, Terri Baud McCoy, and special nephew, Randy Baud and wife Brenda. Survivors also include sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and great nephews.
Dr. Baud spent many years as an administrator for agencies serving people with visual challenges. He served as Executive Director for the Louisiana Association for the Blind and for the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI). During his tenure, the CABVI completed a capital improvement campaign which resulted in a $3.5 million renovation of CABVI’s current building; near double growth in the Industries Program; a new name and logo to better reflect the population served; the merger of Radio Reading Services and CABVI; and the establishment of a Base Supply Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Dr. Baud has managed and supported National Industries for the Blind (NIB) work opportunities and has served on the NIB Board of Directors. Dr. Baud was also a Vice-President for Adult Services of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind. His professional background includes employment as: a professor at Columbia College, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Coordinator for Services to Deaf Blind Individuals, the South Carolina State Consultant for Speech and Hearing, and the Special Education Director and the Coordinator for Speech in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. He has received numerous awards and has been recognized nationally for his commitment to excellence. Dr. Baud has served in various capacities within the community with United Way, Lions Club and local private clubs. He was a member of Woodside Plantation Country Club and left many lifelong friends at Fort Mitchell Country Club in Fort Mitchell, KY. Dr. Baud received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education Degrees from Northern Illinois University and was awarded a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Baud enjoyed thoroughbreds, baseball, his cats and college basketball. He was an avid golfer and retired in 2006 to Aiken. The family thanks friends Marianne Berry and Barbara Sullivan, Karen at Aiken Active Seniors, Brittany and Terri at Trinity Hospice and Emma at Daybreak for their care.
Reverend Dexter Lambert will officiate as friends and family celebrate Hank’s life. Arrangements are incomplete at this time.
