John D. Rostron, Sr., 88

John D. Rostron, Sr., age 88, of Taunton, formerly of Norton passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Dighton Nursing Center in Dighton.
He was the beloved husband of the late Helen E. (Taggart) Rostron who died on September 19, 1985.
Born in Chorley, England on July 28, 1926, he was a son of the late Anthony and Florence (Hitchen) Rostron.
John grew up and was educated in England, and served as a member of the British Army; stationed in Nairobi, Africa.
In 1949, he moved to the United States. He first settled in Norton, where he made his home until moving to Taunton over 22 years ago.
Mr. Rostron was a retired self-employed welder and had also worked as a welder at the Foxboro Terminals in Foxboro.
John’s favorite times spent were those in the presence of his loving family. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and throughout his life was an avid ballroom dancer.
He is survived by his devoted children: David Rostron and his wife Trina of Norton, Cheryl Ladouceur of Attleboro, Lori Stewart and her husband William of Taunton, and John Rostron, Jr. and his wife Paige of Attleboro. He was the brother of the late Gordon Rostron and Harry Rostron. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Amanda, Ariana, Elijah, Chantal, Kevin, Melissa, Katie, Karissa, Logan, Autumn and Willow, his great granddaughter Lorelai, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, April 27th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
Services and burial will be held privately, and in lieu of flowers, John’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the American heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
