Dorothy L. (Laboissonniere) Morrissey, age 83, of Norton, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
She was the beloved wife of the late John F. “Jack” Morrissey, Jr. to whom she was wed for over 60 years at the time of his death on April 24, 2012.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 16, 1932, she was a loving daughter of the late Ernest J. and Lillian (Young) Laboissonniere.
Dorothy grew up and was educated in the Olneyville section of Providence. She had made her home in Norton for over 60 years.
A retired machine operator, Mrs. Morrissey had worked for over 30 years at the former Texas Instruments in Attleboro and also while the company operated under the name of Metals & Controls.
Along with her family, Dorothy attended St. Mary’s Church in Norton. She was a member of Unit 222 American Legion Auxiliary in Norton and was an active member and a past member of the Board of Directors of the Norton Community Lions Club.
Dorothy enjoyed camping and clamming in Jamestown, RI. She treasured the times spent with her adoring family, especially with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great granddaughter. She was joyfully anticipating the birth of her soon to be 15th great grandchild in July.
Mrs. Morrissey also received much pleasure taking care of animals, and watching and feeding the many species of birds that visited her home in Norton. She also enjoyed times spent at the Wrentham Sportsmen’s Club with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children; Jo-Ann Russo and her husband Peter of Wrentham, Diane M. Liias and her husband Leo of Peabody, John F. “Jack” Morrissey, III and his wife Tammy of Norton, Dorothy L. Morris and her husband Michael of Taunton and Catherine M. Lavoie of Norton. She was the dear sister of Richard Laboissonniere of North Providence, RI, Leonard Laboissonniere of Palm Springs, CA and the late Norma Carr. She is also survived by her cherished 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 24th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Dorothy’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Norton Community Lions Club, P.O. Box 2071, Norton, MA 02766.
