Obituary

Cynthia L. Swift, 61, of Acushnet died Sunday April 19, 2015 at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edmund R. and Gladys M. (Burgess) Swift, she lived in Acushnet for most of her life. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School.

Cindy was formerly employed as a switchboard operator at New Bedford City Hall, and then was involved in the travel industry.

She was involved with the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. She loved talking on the telephone daily with her friends, loved going to Dunkin Donuts and Acushnet Creamery, and enjoyed traveling.

Cindy was a very happy person and always had a smile on her face. She loved life and was loved by many.

Survivors include a sister, Nancy J. Leonard and her husband Robert of Acushnet; a brother, David A. Swift and his wife Patricia of San Diego, CA; six nieces and nephews, Mark Leonard and his wife Sharon, Peter Leonard and his wife Julie, Amy Leonard, Steven Swift, Jennifer Swift and Keith Swift; six great-nieces and great-nephews, Matthew, Kyle, Maxwell, Ashley, Victoria and Jacob Leonard; a great-great niece, Kali Leonard; three aunts and several cousins.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday at 8:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford at 9:30 AM. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Community Nurse and Hospice Care, P.O. Box 751, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
