Evans, GA - Mrs. Edrie Lyle McMichael Ballard, 85, passed away on April 14, 2015.
Mrs. Ballard was born on April 20, 1930 in Jackson, Georgia but lived in Evans, Georgia for the last 54 years. She retired as public relations director for Doctors Hospital after 11 years of service. She was also president of the Greater Augusta Advertising Club and member of the Georgia Hospital Association. She served on the board as secretary for the Augusta Better Business Bureau. Mrs. Ballard had a love for music and served many years as the choir director at Evans Presbyterian Church and children’s choir director at Marvin Methodist Church.
Mrs. Ballard was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Ballard. She is survived by her four sons, Thomas F. Allgood, Jr. (Bonnie), Robert L. (Lyn) Allgood (Terri), Brian C. Allgood (Melanie) and Michael L. Allgood; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren; three step-daughters, Theresa Randall, Suzanne Howell and Cynthia Mottel and one brother, LL McMichael.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Dr. Timothy Owings officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Ballard requested donations be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 1220 George C. Wilson Dr., Augusta, GA 30909.
The family extends their heart felt and sincere thanks to the staff at Westwood Alzheimer’s Unit for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Ballard.
