Douglas A. Verbic, 58

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Douglas A. Verbic, resident of Mansfield, passed at home Saturday morning, April 11th, 2015, losing his long battle with prostate cancer. He was 58.
Douglas was born on August 4th, 1956 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was the oldest son of Alan R. and Edna M. (Davis) Verbic, brother to the late Scott A. Verbic of Maryland and Keith A. Verbic of Virginia. A graduate of Rogers High School in Newport, RI, Douglas attended UMASS Boston, where he graduated with honors. He also proudly served in the United States Navy. Douglas married Theresa M. Campos on November 24th, 1984 in St. Paul’s Church in Cambridge Massachusetts, and had been a resident of Mansfield since 1991. Doug was a quick thinking, kind-hearted, gentle man whose love for his family and friends was evident throughout his life. Simply stated, Douglas Verbic was a great man, and will be missed by the many people on whose life he left a lasting impression.
Doug loved working for State Street Corporation in Boston, where for many years he specialized in IT and IT Audit. While at State Street, Douglas was instrumental in helping to institute processes to improve product security and streamline reporting. His work took him all over the world- he jumped at every chance to meet new people and travel to new places, exploring cuisine, culture, and customs.
Doug was a lifetime golfer, holding a standing Saturday 6 am T-time with his friends from Fram Drive. He was the ultimate coach and fan, very involved with his girls, acting as their soccer coach and Lacrosse Pro when needed, attending as many sporting events as possible. Doug loved the ocean and was known to swim in waters all over the world. In his younger days he was a surfer in Newport, RI, and an expert water skier on the lakes of New Hampshire. In the summer you could always find Doug in the backyard, waist deep in the pool, making it sparkle and trying to get his girls to jump in. If he wasn’t in the backyard, you could find him on Cape Cod, enjoying the beach with his best friends and family.
Doug knew that when his final day came, he would meet his God, and be reunited with all who went before him, including his younger brothers Scott and Keith.
Left to mourn his passing is his beloved wife and best friend of 30 years, Theresa M. (Campos) Verbic; his daughters JulieAnna and Jessica Verbic of Mansfield; his parents, Alan R. and Edna M.(Davis) Verbic of Florida; his Sister-in-law, Terri Verbic-Boggs and husband Steve Boggs, nephew Jason Verbic and wife Kayla, Brian Verbic and wife Amber, all of Maryland; Brother-in-law Marcus King of Virginia; Sister’s-in-law Ann Marie (Amma) Campos of East Boston, Sandra Boyle and husband Michael Boyle of Malden, Laura Boudreau and husband Chuck Boudreau of Lynn, Tricia Campos of Lynn.
Also his many nieces and nephews: Charles Boudreau III, Renee Nusum, Katlyn Laramee, Sarah Boyle, David Boyle, George-Jacob Clark, Hailey Boudreau, Anastayja Laramee and Gabrielle Grace Verbic, and his many close friends and colleagues.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially ninvited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 15th at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Military honors will be held at the conclusion of services. Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
