Ruth V. (Roberge Charron) MacMaster, age 98, a resident of the Village at Willow Crossings, Mansfield, formerly of Norton passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Madonna Manor in North Attleboro.
She was the beloved wife of the late Douglas J. MacMaster, Sr. who died in 2005 and the late Robert J. Charron who died in 1970.
Born in Mansfield, Ma on November 20, 1916, she was a loving daughter of the late Isaac J. Roberge and Alice E. (Nolette) Roberge Robie. She grew up in Mansfield and was a 1935 graduate of Mansfield High School.
Prior to retiring in 1985, Ruth was a familiar and welcoming face at the former Haskin’s Pharmacy in Norton; where she had been employed 36 years.
Ruth was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. She was active in church affairs and was selected to be one of the first Eucharistic Ministers at St. Mary’s Church; faithfully serving from 1977-1986. In 1983, she was recognized for her devout catholic faith and was a recipient of the Marian Medal.
She had made her home in Mansfield for the past 16 years. Ruth loved spending time amongst family and friends. She enjoyed playing cribbage and making jewelry, and when younger was an avid photographer.
She was the dear sister of the late Ralph F. Roberge and Raymond W. Roberge. She is survived by her adoring nieces Linda Schwarzenberg and her husband Matthew of Harrisville, RI and Elaine Cook and her husband Kenneth of North Kingstown, RI. She was the cherished stepmother of Douglas J. MacMaster, Jr. of Ambler, PA, and the late Jessie A. MacMaster and Katherine Ellen Greene. She was stepmother in law of Edward Greene of Amsterdam, New York and is also survived by her loving 10 step grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1, recently born, great -great granddaughter. She was pre-deceased by 1 step great granddaughter.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, April 11th at 8:45 A.M., from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 10th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
