Obituary

Wilbur Darrell “Drib” Moore, 68, of Irwinville, died Saturday, March 28, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with the Rev. Sonny Pate and the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mr. Moore was born April 25, 1946, in Irwin County, Georgia to Mattie Osteen Moore and the late W.C. Moore. He was a 1964 graduate of Irwin County High School. Mr. Moore had a long career as a die repairman working for Tifton Aluminum for 36 years and later Elixir Industries in Douglas. He enjoyed hunting deer as well as fishing. He was a member of the Irwinville Volunteer Fire Department. Together with his grandson, he liked to hunt rattlesnakes and look for arrowheads. His passion was spending time with his grandchildren and his three-legged companion, Willy. Mr. Moore was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Betty Jean Moore of Irwinville; his mother, Mattie Moore of Irwinville; his grandchildren: Chanler Moore of Irwinville and Taylor Moore of Fitzgerald; a great-granddaughter, Aubree Lynn Carelock of Fitzgerald; brothers and their spouses: Jimmy Ray & Christine Moore of Rome, New York, Johnny & Brenda Moore of Wray, and Joe & Donna Moore of Callahan, Florida; a brother-in-law, George Donnell of Charleston, South Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his two children: Jennifer Ann “Jenny” Moore and Darrell Eugene Moore; a brother, Clyde Moore; and a sister, Ann Moore Donnell.
