Obituary

WORCESTER-June Caprice Cowes, 98, matriarch of the Cowes family, died Monday, March 23, 2015 at Golden Living Center-The Hermitage.

She is survived a niece, Gail E. (Barry) Schultz of FL, and several nephews, Kendall F. Cowes of Shrewsbury, Clifford E. Barry of Long Island, NY, Alfred E. Barry of Worcester, Charles E. Cowes of Las Vegas, NV, David A. Cowes of Lansing, MI, Phillip M. Cowes of San Diego, CA. She also leaves many great nephews and great nephews. June was predeceased by her parents Frank K. and Ella L. (Smith) Cowes and all of her siblings; Earl, Frances, Kendall, Una, Vera, Olive and Donald.

She was born in Worcester and graduated from Saint Vincent School of Nursing. Ms. Cowes was a registered nurse for many years. Throughout her career, she worked at Saint Vincent, Memorial and Fairlawn Hospital, and volunteered at Cushing General Hospital during World War II. She became a member of the First Baptist Church in 1925 and remained active for many years. June was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Memorial Hospital Aid Society and Fairlawn Auxiliary.

A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, March 31 at 10am in Rural Cemetery, Grove Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 111 Park Avenue, Worcester, 01609. Arrangments are in the care of CALLAHAN, FAY and CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester.
