Alice J. (Joaquin) Stone, 99, of New Bedford passed away peacefully on Monday March 23, 2015 at Sacred Heart Home after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Stone.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Wilhermina (Camara) Joaquin, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Stone was employed in the shoe business for many years at Cherry and Webb, and most notably in the children's department of the Star Store. She had also worked for Southeastern Bank and Trust Company and the New Bedford Public School Department.
Alice loved reading, cooking, entertaining her friends and family, and traveling the world with her husband Joseph. She was a great fan of Doo-Wop music and the Boston Red Sox.
She is survived by a niece, Marilyn Robinson; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was the sister of the late Mary Dutra Maguire, Joseph P. Joaquin, Jr., and John P. Joaquin, and aunt of the late Arthur A. Dutra, Joseph P. Joaquin III, and Jacqueline Correia.
The family of Mrs. Stone wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Sacred Heart Home for the loving care given to Alice during her thirteen year residence.
