Shirley V. (Stewart) Candage, age 94, of Norton passed away peacefully surrounded by her embracing love of her family on Sunday, march 22, 2015 at the Life care Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Halsted A. Candage who died on February 6, 1987.
Born in Holyoke, MA on February 9, 1921, she was a loving daughter of the late Nichol and Mary (Costello) Stewart. She grew up and was educated in the Springfield Area.
Prior to retiring, Shirley had worked for many years in various capacities at General Finding, a jewelry company in North Attleboro.
A resident of Norton for over 45 years, she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. When not spending time with her adoring family, Shirley’s hobbies included shopping, reading, attending yard sales and listening and singing along to her favorite Irish tunes.
She is survived by her devoted children Robert S. Perry and his wife Sandra of North Attleboro, Beverly A. Lizotte-Hebert and her husband Michael of Rehoboth and Marilyn L. Warot and her husband Walter of Norton. She was the cherished grandmother of Lori Ann, Elizabeth, Robert, Paul, Lisa, Leila, Shana and Zachary. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the dear sister of the late Mae O’Donnell and Eleanor Collins and the former wife of the late Joseph A. Perry.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, March 25th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately at a later date at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the American Diabetes association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
